JOIN Board meets in Brussels

On 23rd March, the JOIN Board came together in the German capital for a regular meeting. Participants were our Chairman, Mark Broughton (St John Ambulance), our Vice-Chairman Christian Velten-Jameson (Association des Œuvres de Saint-Jean), Christian Meyer-Landrut (Johanniter Germany) and Johannes Bucher (Johanniter Austria). Lidwien van der Reep (Johanniter Nederland) attended the meeting via zoom.

The organisation of the AGM 2023 in Brussels was the first topic addressed, and the Board is looking forward to physically meeting again with JOIN delegates in May. Comprehensive financial information was then provided by our Vice-Chairman.

The meeting continued with a presentation on the humanitarian aid provided by JOIN members to the regions of Turkey and Syria hit by the earthquake in February. The Board further discussed the continued efforts to deliver material, medical and financial aid to Ukrainian refugees. The JOIN Office gave feedback on the working groups’ activities, including upcoming opportunities within the Volunteer Swap programme.

Finally, an update was provided on the implementation of the European MED1stMR project, developing innovative mixed-reality training for medical first responders.
