On 13th December, the JOIN Board met in the English capital for a face-to-face meeting. Participants were our Chairman Mark Broughton (St John Ambulance), our Vice-Chairman Christian Velten-Jameson (Association des Œuvres de Saint-Jean), Sarah Vecchione (S.O.G.IT Italy), Andrew Grech (St John Malta) and Friederike von Bar (Johanniter Germany).
The meeting started with a presentation on the working groups’ activities. It was decided to officially publish the Young People First Aid Manual on www.firstaidjoin.org on coming Monday 18th December. Moreover, the Volunteer Swap programme has already reached a record number of participants for the year 2023.
The meeting continued with feedback on the latest lobbying activities at the European Parliament. The Transport and Tourism Committee adopted on 7th December its position on the revision of European driving licence rules. It was decided to include mandatory First Aid training for driving licence applicants.
Comprehensive financial information, including the raise of membership fees decided at the last AGM, was provided by our Vice-Chairman. The organisation of the AGM 2024 in Budapest was the next topic addressed.
Finally, an update was provided on the implementation of the European MED1stMR project, which develops innovative mixed-reality training for medical first responders.
