Volunteers from St John Ambulance and Johanniter Austria took to the famous courts of the Wimbledon Championships over the past two weeks to make sure everyone stayed happy and healthy. The oldest tennis tournament in the world has been held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London since 1877. The volunteers provided comprehensive first aid during the Championships from Monday 1 to Sunday 14 July.
As tennis fans celebrate a fortnight of world-class tennis at Wimbledon, the volunteers were ready to treat hundreds of casualties – on and off the court. They treated people during the course of the competition and carried out transports to the hospital.
Trained volunteers from our Austrian and English members were on hand to keep spectators safe by making sure that first aid treatment is available to everyone who needs it for all 14 days of the tournament.
Take a look at some impressions of the event below.
