WeCare App to improve Healthcare Workers’ Mental Health

The WeCare project ,co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme, ran from 2022 to 2024 and developed an innovative mobile app to support healthcare workers’ mental health and well-being. The consortium included JOIN members from Austria and Germany, who together with partners from Poland, Italy, and Serbia addressed the unique challenges faced by healthcare professionals.

Project Goals

  • Help healthcare workers assess and monitor their mental well-being.
  • Provide practical tools and exercises tailored to their needs.
  • Encourage healthy habits through gamification.
  • Boost job motivation and resilience.

The WeCare App

As the project’s key output, the app functions as a “pocket coach” offering:

  • Self-assessments: Tools to measure stress levels and quality of life.
  • Personalized guidance: Exercises and resources based on individual needs.
  • Healthy habit promotion: Gamified activities to encourage positive changes.

Project Impact

The WeCare project addressed the challenges of high workloads, variable shifts, and emotional demands in healthcare, aiming to make the sector more attractive and sustainable for professionals.
