Funded by the European Erasmus+ Programme, the project PROBANT stands for Premiers secours européens pour enfants. It will develop innovative educational materials aiming at introducing First Aid to children aged 8 to 12.
The material will be translated into Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Italian and Ukrainian. It will be made available to teachers, parents, caregivers and other trainers at the end of the project in December 2026.
The consortium is led by Johanniter International (JOIN) and includes Johanniter Austria, Johanniter Germany, S.O.G.IT Italy and St John Cyprus.
During the two-day kick-off meeting held on 25th and 26th January, our medical experts drew up a list of First Aid related topics that are relevant for 8 to 12 years old and how the selected topics should be addressed to this age group.
The PROBANT consortium is looking forward to regularly meet in the coming two years in order to implement the project’s objectives. The expected effects in children aged 8 to 12 are (1) awareness-raising of the importance of health, (2) empowerment through attention to one’s own well-being and caring for sick or injured people, (3) increased social engagement, (4) improved skills in the field of health and, in the long term, better employability.
