Volunteer Swap in England

St John Ambulance is the leading first aid charity in England and exists since 1887. Each year more than 800,000 people complete a first aid training course with St John Ambulance. Other activities include ambulance services, youth work, homeless projects, care and the provision of first aid at public events such as the London Marathon.

Please check travelling conditions and the latest developments of national regulations with your own organisation before leaving for a trip!

The Project

After summer exams, many colleges at the University of Cambridge throw extravagant parties for their students that run from early evening (around 7 pm) to shortly after dawn (around 5 am). These Balls, called May Balls, despite occurring in June, provide unlimited access to entertainment, from musical acts to magic shows and fairground rides and an almost endless supply of food and drink. St John Ambulance covers many of these events – we are providing first aid around 20 different balls and parties over the course of the week 16th June – 24th June and are looking for additional first aiders to help provide cover. We are usually well looked after at the Balls – most of the Balls give us grazing rights, and we can roam the Ball and sample the same food on offer to the attendees. Each individual event will have 2-6 volunteers stationed at it.
