The second Field Trial took place in Heidelberg at the facilities of our partner the University Clinic Heidelberg (UKHD). In parallel, on 26th and 27th September 2023, the MED1stMR consortium gathered together for a General Assembly (GA).
On the third September weekend, our Maltese member provided medical coverage at the EuroPride Parade and Concert in Valetta. The festivities included a concert featuring Christina Aguilera and the EuroPride March.
St John Malta was joined by two English volunteers who supported the festivities.
On 16 September, a large-scale exercise took place at the Zentrum am Berg (ZaB). A bus accident was simulated in the tunnel with several injured and two fatalities.
The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group has won the 2023 edition of the António Champalimaud Vision Award. The award was announced in a ceremony chaired by the President of Portugal, H.E Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and President of the Champalimaud Foundation, Leonor Beleza, in the presence of public figures and international organizations’ representatives.
On 21st August, the JOIN Board met online for a regular meeting.
The annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta is one of the largest international hot-air balloon festivals in Europe. Johannes and Lara from Johanniter Germany travelled to Bristol to join the team of St John Ambulance.
With the aim to finalise the manuscript of its First Aid Manual for Young People, the JOIN Clinical Working Group met in London. Delegates from England, Germany, Italy and the JOIN Office came together in the Britsh capital.
The annual St John Summer Camp in Estonia aims to offer a joyful time to people with disabilities away from their everyday routine. It is also a valuable experience of social commitment and dedication for the volunteers.
The MED1stMR training solution was tested and evaluated in thge initial Field Trial at the Johanniter Research and Innovation Centre in Vienna. From 25th to 28th July, trainers and first responders practised deployment in a tunnel bus crash scenario.
