The JOIN Annual General Meeting 2023 took place in the city hosting the official seats of the European institutions – Brussels, for the first time. Twenty-four delegates from St John enterprises across Europe met to discuss a broad spectrum of topics.
On 18th May, the members of the Volunteering and Youth Working Group came together for their annual face-to-face meeting. The JOIN Office hosted representatives from Austria, England, Germany and Hungary in the Belgian capital.

On the weekend of the 5th to the 7th May, seven volunteers from St John Ambulance and a group og volunteers from Joannici Poland attended Tag der Johanniter and entered the first aid competition as guest teams.
The 2023 London Marathon was the 43rd edition of the annual running event in London. It took place on 23rd April and was the third race of the World Marathon Majors 2023. Our English member was joined by two of their German colleagues. Read the report by Isabella Portenlänger and Gregor Gutbrod.
St John Ambulance in England regularly provides first aid at significant sporting events. On 22nd April, the team of our English member was joined by Martin Stepan from Austria for the football match Wigan Athletic vs Millwall at the DW stadium in Manchester.
On 17th & 18th April 2023, the MED1stMR consortium came together for a General Assembly at the facilities of SERMAS – Salud 112 in Madrid. All participants were warmly welcomed at the Hospital de Emergencias Enfermera Isabel Zendal and had the opportunity to spend two inspiring and forward-thinking days.
With the aim to finish drafting the First Aid Manual for Young People, the JOIN Clinical Working Group met in Berlin. Delegates from Cyprus, England, Germany and the JOIN Board came together in the German capital.
From 24th to 25th March, the JOIN Working Group for PR, Marketing and Communication met in Berlin. Johanniter Germany hosted representatives from Austria, England, Switzerland, the JOIN Board and the JOIN Office at their premises.
